Sassotondo – A Tuscan Winery Rooted in Heritage and Old Vines
Sassotondo is a family-owned and operated winery nestled near the medieval village of Pitigliano, in southern Tuscany. Founded in the early 1990s by Carla Benini, an agronomist from Trentino, and Edoardo Ventimiglia, a former documentary filmmaker from Rome, Sassotondo has grown into a benchmark for artisanal, sustainable winemaking. From its first vintage in 1997, the winery has remained dedicated to organic viticulture, with certification dating back to 1994, and an unwavering focus on local grape varieties, minimal intervention, and expressive terroir.
Eclipse Winery, Kvareli, Kakheti, Georgia
In the historic winemaking cradle of Georgia, where viticulture dates back over 8,000 years, Eclipse Winery is charting a bold path that bridges heritage and innovation. Founded in 2019 by a group of longtime colleagues from the IT industry, Eclipse is a newcomer to the Georgian wine scene with an ambitious vision — and deep respect for the land’s ancestral vines.
El Escocés Volante, DO Calatayud, Spain
When “The Flying Scotsman” Norrel Robertson MW landed in Spain with his family back in 2003, he quickly saw the quality potential of the old vines grow in varied terroirs across Calatayud, Aragón, the birthplace of Garnacha. The family made it their mission to seek out and revive old Garnacha vineyards.
Poggio La Tana, Tuscany, Italy
Situated in the picturesque hills of Tuscany, Poggio La Tana epitomizes the enduring bond between land, family, and tradition. This boutique winery spans two hectares and produces fewer than 10,000 bottles annually, emphasizing quality over quantity. At its heart lies the “Vigna Vecchia,” a historic one-hectare vineyard planted in 1965 by the family’s patriarch, Giuseppe “Beppe” Michelini.
IANAI, Marche, Italy
In the heart of Italy’s Marche region, nestled within the serene valley of Matelica, lies IANAI—a winery where passion for viticulture intertwines with a profound respect for history and sustainability. Founded by Fabrizio Sepe, IANAI stands as a testament to the belief that old vines are unparalleled storytellers of their terroir.
Azienda Agricola Dalzocchio, Trentino, Italy
Perched atop the scenic hills of Rovereto in Trentino, Azienda Agricola Dalzocchio epitomizes a harmonious blend of tradition, sustainability, and familial dedication. Established in 1979 by Riccardo Dalzocchio and his daughter Elisabetta, the estate transformed from uncultivated land into a flourishing vineyard dedicated exclusively to Pinot Noir. Today, it spans two hectares of vineyards and an equal expanse of forest, producing approximately 8,000 bottles annually.

Founded in 2004 by four childhood friends—Gaetano and Generoso Bove, Vincenzo D’Avino, and Luigi Giordano—the estate was born not just to make wine, but to save history.
