Lorenzo Zadra descends from a lineage of vintners, pioneers of a small and rare production of Groppello di Revò an ancient red native variety  originating in the Val di Non.  The estate is situated in the village of Revò in the province of Trentino with vineyards planted to steep slopes at 700 meters altitude, above the shores of Lake Santa Giustina.

"El Zeremia" a small 1.5ha property with a micro-production of 4000 bottles and takes its name from a family nickname given to Augusto Zadra, who inherited the historic Groppello vineyard from his father with the promise to continue to safeguard this almost extinct ancient indigenous vine.  Lorenzo has caried on the promise to safeguard these vines bringing the production of Groppello di Revò to a total of 8ha all planted in the Val di Non, originating from the estate's 120 year old ungrafted vineyard.

The biggest surprise for Lorenzo came in 2014, with the discovery of another ancient unique local white variety.  An ungrafted vine found in the Groppello di Revò ancient vineyard and identified as the only surviving example of Maor, a white grape variety native to the Val di Non, documented as far back as 1700.  Since reviving this vine Lorenzo has planted a further 1200 vines deriving from this ancient variety and vineyard.

“The road is long but I am determined to bring back Maor into the realm of Italy’s plethora of grape varieties,” says Lorenzo, “Our Val di Non has so much to express in terms of viticulture.  My wish is to leave to future generations one more native vine to be able to cultivate and vinify not only as a still wine but also a sparkling one.”
