Astley Vineyard, Worcestershire, England

Astley Vineyard is located in the beautiful Severn Valley, close to the River Severn, 10 miles north of the cathedral city of Worcester. It is a family run, single estate vineyard in Worcestershire that was planted in 1971 on Triassic red sandstone soils by the Bache family. Today Astley Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in the UK and is owned and run by the Haywood family.

Half of the estates’ 2ha vineyard is considered to be old including the original 53yr old Kerner and 45yr old Madeleine Angevine vines. The rest of the vineyard is comprised of 25yr old Bacchus, 30 year old Siegerrebe and a few rows of Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noir. Astley Vineyard’s owner, Tim Haywood, and his son Chris, the winemaker, hold a strong commitment to sustainable land management, low intervention wine making and follow the gentle pruning techniques of Simonit & Sirch to prolong the life of all their vines.

Astley Vineyard produces around 6,000 bottles per year which they sell directly on their website and at their popular cellar door.
