Old Vine Photography Competition 2026: Shortlist Revealed at Heritage Showcase

8 June 2026

Public vote now open online. Shortlisted photos by category available to view here

The Old Vine Conference has now announced the shortlist for its inaugural Old Vine Photography Competition. The 21 shortlisted images were exhibited in a pop-up gallery at The Heritage Showcase tasting at St John’s, 73 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 on the 8th June, with the trade and press visitors among the first to be able to cast their votes online throughout the day.

Voting also opened to the public online for one month from the 8th June to 8th July at www.oldvines.org. The winners will be announced on Old Vine Day, 15th July 2026.

The competition was launched in March 2026 as a global call for amateur and professional photographers to capture the beauty, history and resilience of the world’s oldest vineyards and raise awareness and understanding of the importance of preserving & protecting heritage viticulture around the world.  The competition attracted global entries across four themes: Landscape and Plants, People, Cultural Legacy, and Resilience and Adaptation with 272 entries received. It is sponsored by the Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

The Heritage Showcase was the Old Vine Conference’s largest ever trade and press tasting, featuring 170 wines from old vines, heritage cuttings, and vines of ancient genetic lineage. Three masterclasses ran throughout the day, led by experts from the Old Vine Conference, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and Wines of Alsace.

“Photography has the power to make people see, feel and care,” said Head Judge Randy Caparoso, wine writer and photographer. “I’m excited to celebrate the images that shine a light on historic vineyards and inspire an appreciation and understanding of the need for their preservation.”

Shortlisted photographers had their work displayed at the pop-up exhibition with full credit. All shortlisted entries will also be included in the competition’s online gallery and promoted across the Old Vine Conference’s social media and newsletter.
