Member Guia Winery makes Prosecco Superiore wines from old vines in the the steep, sun-drenched hills of Guia, one of the most revered crus in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The Buso family told us that weather over the 2025 season has been “stunning”, with the ideal, cool conditions for the production of sparkling wine.

Grapes can only be harvested by hand in the Guia winery vineyards.

Edoardo Buso explains more about the climatic conditions and harvest:

“I was a bit worried when it started raining over the two last weeks of August, due to the risk of botrytis, but in the end, the sun came out  again, resulting in a stunning vintage, like those we enjoyed 10-15  years ago. We harvested our vineyards from the 18th to the 22nd September, achieving a beautiful balance between ripeness and acidity, especially in terms of malic acid.

We have just blended the wines from our old steep vineyards in Guia di Valdobbiadene for our Italian Method Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Rive di Guia, which will be available from May 2026. Our limited edition flagship wine Incipit Sui Lieviti is now is ageing  in stainless steel tanks, ready for release in the summer of 2027 .  

This vintage Valdobbiadene is getting a lot of hype for its interestingly intense, yet delicate aromas, with more floral notes than recent vintages. Expectations are very high, and we can’t wait to taste the first sparkling wines from our winery when they are bottled.

We continue to use curettage (scraping away damaged hard wood) to reduce esca disease, and we also select old vines for our database of replanting through massal selection to preserve old clones. This colder season helped the 2-3 year old replanted vines to grow. We only replace dead vines, in our area it’s not common to replace entire vineyards due to the steepness of the hills.
