David Rowledge was inspired to create a range of old vine wine by the many great winemakers and partners with whom he has worked since founding Alchemy in 2002. Their passion for old vine heritage and quality motivated him to create a range of wines that would help to save, as he says, “…great old parcels being lost in a co-op’s tank or grubbed up”.
The “Old Vine Series” launched with the 2018 vintage. Alchemy partner with winemakers and identify worthy old vine parcels. Their model is to get the growers on side, and pay a worthy price for, as he says, “this exceptional fruit”. Alchemy’s Old Vine Series works with growers and winemakers from around the world. Alchemy’s Old Vine Series spans the world, from France (made by Boris Kovac and Xavier Vignon), to Georgia (made by Temuri Dakishvili), and Australia (made by Andrew Margan). The range also includes wines from Spain, South Africa, Argentina, Austria, Italy, USA, and Chile.
